In law school, Fields interned for the NM Public Defender’s Office Youth Division and also at the Santa Fe Appellate Court. He served as an intern for Judge Juan Romero in Albuquerque’s juvenile court.
Licensed to practice law in New Mexico and Washington, D.C., Fields is also certified by the Veterans Administration as an attorney to represent veterans. He is the former President of the New Mexico Social Security Attorney's Association (NMSSAA).
